Introduction

Climate change and biodiversity loss represent two of the most pressing challenges of our time. To respond effectively, organisations require individuals equipped with practical skills in sustainability and environmental management. This programme addresses that need.

The ISEP Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management provides learners with essential knowledge and tools to improve environmental performance and support sustainability objectives in the workplace. It also provides a pathway to professional recognition through Associate Membership of ISEP.

This course is intended for individuals who are new to environmental management and are seeking to develop a foundational understanding of sustainability principles.

It is particularly relevant for:

  • Professionals seeking to gain Associate Membership of ISEP
  • Early-career environmental specialists

No prior qualifications are required to enrol.

English Language Competency


A good standard of written and spoken English is important to engage effectively with this programme. While formal certification (e.g. IELTS) is not required, learners whose first language is not English should have a self-assessed proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5–6.0 or CEFR level B2.

This level of competence will support learners in understanding course materials, contributing to discussions, and completing assessments where applicable.

This comprehensive course delivers a grounding in sustainability, environmental management principles, and practical tools. It consists of 40 hours of guided learning delivered over 5 days.
