Key EcoVadis Updates in 2025

Sustainability expectations have been rising for years, and 2025 marks a step change. EcoVadis has introduced major updates that align more closely with regulatory demands, supply-chain transparency, and social due diligence. Below is a concise summary of what changed and why it matters.

New CSRD Questionnaire for Suppliers

EcoVadis has launched a dedicated CSRD Questionnaire to support Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive data collection. Buyers can invite suppliers to complete it at no cost, and EcoVadis consolidates responses into a single audit-ready report. This reduces the burden on suppliers and helps companies streamline CSRD compliance across complex supply chains.

Worker Voice and Worker Voice Connect

EcoVadis has expanded its Worker Voice, a set of tools including web links, QR codes, or platforms such as WhatsApp that allow workers to anonymously report on labour conditions, harassment, discrimination, and health and safety. This is a powerful more independent route for whistleblowing that is likely to increase visibility of conditions deep within supply chains.

Stronger Verification via Audit Partnerships

EcoVadis has partnered with organisations such as SGS and QIMA to integrate on-site audits with EcoVadis Ratings. This provides independent verification where risk signals emerge from ratings or Worker Voice feedback. The result is added credibility, clearer evidence for action, and higher trust in sustainability claims.

More Granular Scoring

Theme-level scores are now shown as unrounded figures. This gives companies a more precise view of performance and improvement over time, enabling tighter tracking and more targeted corrective actions. It also encourages continuous progress rather than annual, point-driven efforts.

What the Data Shows

EcoVadis’ latest Global Supply Chain Sustainability Index covers nearly 89,000 companies in 150 countries. Ratings have risen roughly 167% over five years, with about 49,000 assessments completed in 2024 alone. Average scores continue to improve and more companies are entering the “Good” performance bracket.
At the same time, over one-third of first-time assessments still fall into high-to-medium risk categories. Sustainable procurement remains the weakest theme, indicating persistent difficulty embedding sustainability into supplier selection and management.

Why This Matters

Collectively, these updates reflect tighter expectations from regulators, investors, and customers. Companies need reliable supplier data, worker-level insight, and credible verification. EcoVadis is shifting from a ratings-only model toward a broader due-diligence platform combining structured CSRD reporting, real-time social feedback, and third-party audits.

For organisations under CSRD pressure or seeking stronger supply-chain assurance, these changes provide a more robust basis for compliance, risk management, and measurable improvement.
