Why Seek ISO 22000 Certification?

In the first part of the ISO 22000 piece, ‘What do we need to know about ISO 22000?’

We discussed the requirements, benefits and adoption rates of ISO 22000 certification. In this part we will look at why companies may not seek ISO 22000 certification.

Many organisations have yet to seek certification to this standard, many do not look for certification due to:

If and when an organisation wants to implement this standard within their organisation, there are some preliminary questions they should ask:

These questions should lead the organisation to the following:

  • Identification of customer needs, expectations and requirements.
  • Identification of regulatory requirements.
  • Outlining the definition of policy supported by measurable objectives.
  • Planning of actions and resources needed to meet objectives.

Once an organisation has answered those questions and has decided to look for certification, the process is as follows:
