Antaris Pioneers Sustainable Corporate Practices: Banning Flights, Reducing Carbon Footprint, and Leading the Way to a Greener Future

Antaris has taken a step towards achieving its carbon reduction objective by deciding to ban all corporate flights, reinforcing its dedication to a greener and more sustainable future.

In a significant move that underscores Antaris’s continuous commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, Antaris will no longer undertake projects that necessitate air travel. Instead, Antaris will embrace innovative solutions to meet our business needs while minimising our environmental impact. This change has already taken effect, marking a pivotal moment in the organisation’s history.

Recently, Antaris acquired two weeks of energy management consultancy with a large food manufacturing client in Scotland. Explaining, that the company refused to fly and only accepted the work on the condition that some of the work could be done remotely and for on-site work, the consultant would travel by Ferry.

And so, Marcas (Antaris’s new energy consultant) will be travelling to Scotland via ferry to deliver 2-weeks of on-site energy consultancy and ISO support. The third week of consultancy will be done entirely remotely.

Business travel is Antaris’ largest contributor to its carbon footprint. The decision to eliminate corporate flights is a proactive step in the right direction, demonstrating the company’s resolve to lead by example in the corporate world.

Eugene Cush, COO, of Antaris, is delighted with the decision saying,

“The company is excited to embark on this new journey and invites stakeholders, partners, and clients to join them in their quest for a greener, more sustainable future.”

Key points of Antaris’ decision to ban corporate flights include:

  • Carbon reduction commitment: Antaris recognises the importance of addressing climate change and has set ambitious carbon reduction goals. Banning corporate flights is a significant part of the company’s strategy to achieve these targets.
  • Antaris is confident that these initiatives will not only have a positive impact on the environment but also bolster its reputation as an ethical and responsible organisation. Antaris remains dedicated to its mission to provide innovative solutions while ensuring the welfare of our planet.
  • *Signatory to SBTi Targets:  Antaris has committed to Science-Based Targets (SBTi), aligning its emission reduction goals with scientific consensus to limit global warming. Antaris’ target to decarbonise their Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and to measure and reduce their Scope 3 emissions have been validated by the SBTi. This underscores the company’s dedication to measurable and impactful sustainability practices.
  • Embracing alternative solutions: In place of corporate flights, Antaris will leverage its extensive network of internationally based contractors, facilitating project execution with a reduced environmental impact. Additionally, when travelling to the United Kingdom, Antaris will promote the use of more sustainable transportation options, such as ferries.
  • Leading by example: By taking this landmark step, Antaris is demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Antaris aims to inspire others in the corporate world to prioritise sustainable decision-making.

Meanwhile, Antaris continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability through a myriad of initiatives such as:

  • Car-Free Trials: Eugene, Antaris’ Chief Operating Officer, recently completed a 30-day period of using no car as part of his sustainable efforts. Eugene hasn’t completely given up his car, but he continues to use the local train service to commute to the office and regularly takes the intercity train to Dublin for meetings. Aurora Leyton, a sustainability consultant with Antaris, does not drive and continues to provide effective consultancy services for their clients nationwide, either online or by using alternative modes of transport.
  • Cycling Support: Antaris has signed up to Dublin Bikes and TFI Bikes allowing their team to access bike stations throughout Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Cork and Waterford and offers the bike-to-work scheme.
  • 1% for the Planet Membership: Antaris proudly announces its membership in “1% for the Planet,” a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental causes by pledging 1% of sales to nonprofit organisations dedicated to sustainability.

This decision reflects the vision of Antaris’ leadership and the dedication of its employees to contribute to a more sustainable world.

The company is excited to embark on this new journey and invites stakeholders, partners, and clients to join them in their quest for a greener, more sustainable future.
